In Loving Memory of Father John ‘Jack’ Kelly, OSFS
With heavy hearts, we share the news of the passing of a beloved former IHM Pastor, Father John ‘Jack’ Kelly, who was called to his eternal rest on Tuesday, December 3.
Fr. Jack’s leadership and spiritual guidance have left an indelible mark on the IHM Community, having served at IHM as both a Parochial Vicar (3½ years) and Pastor (8 years). He had a boisterous, exuberant personality and would challenge both young and old to embrace Salesian Spirituality and ‘Live Jesus!’ in your everyday life.
IHM Church will hold a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, January 8, at 6:30 PM to celebrate his life and ministry.
In the meantime, we invite you to join us in prayer for the repose of his soul and for comfort, for all who grieve his passing.

Thursday Scripture Sharing
On Thursdays, Scripture Sharing will begin after 9:00 AM Mass. Each week we will read the scriptures that will be proclaimed at the weekend liturgies. One does not have to be a scripture scholar but just have a desire to read and hear God’s word prayerfully and see what God is trying to tell us personally and as a community.
We will meet in the Parlor and begin after morning Mass. We will finish by 11:00 AM. For questions, contact Deacon Wally at [email protected].

Children’s Liturgy of the Word
We will be starting Children’s Liturgy of the Word after the first of the year. It will take place at the Sunday 9:30 AM Mass. There will be two groups; Kindergarten through 2nd grade will be one group and third and fourth grade will be the second group. The children will be dismissed after the opening prayer to have a prayer experience featuring the Sunday readings. It will be the same readings as the congregation hears but, in more age-related language. The children are returned to the Church at the Offertory with a better understanding of the readings and are eager to share what they learned with their family.
Like everything in the Parish, we need volunteers for this important ministry. We need two adults for each group. All materials are provided and there are handouts featuring the Scripture readings for each Sunday. Before Covid we had enough volunteers so that each one only had to serve once a month. Let’s work toward that again.
Please consider helping our young children to learn more about scripture and how it guides our lives. We cannot do it without your help.
For more information, contact Deacon Wally Haarsgaard at: 336-884-5352 or [email protected].

Broken Cement and Brick Pavers in Front of the Church & PLEC
Please do not drive up to the building onto the cement, brick pavers, or grass around the front, sides, and courtyard of the Church or PLEC buildings.
These areas aren’t constructed to withstand the weight of a vehicle and some areas have water pipes running under them. The repairs to these areas with pipes have already been costly due to vehicles driving up to the buildings.
The ramps were installed for handicap accessibility, to assist funerals and deliveries via hand truck.
If you require assistance with picking up or dropping items off, please park at the curb and come to the office. We are happy to help.

Got Sneakers?
Military/Veterans/Families Outreach supports a FIRST Robotics team connected with our National Guard families.
Funded by donations and grants, one of their fundraisers pays them for recycling sneakers! The better the pair’s condition, the more money they are worth. We’ll accept any size sneakers (adults and children's). Great condition sneakers get resold, the less than perfect are cut up and recycled for materials, saving our landfills.
Please leave your Sneakers Only donation in the Stewardship Office. Thank you!!
