YOUTH MINISTRY “Be the good, you want to see in the world.” Youth Ministry participated in the Triad Catholic Week of Service 2021, July 26 – July 29. Partnering with Community Housing Solutions, working at a private residence in Greensboro, we built a ramp to help improve the standard of living and increase the mobility of a lovely lady. Thank you to all who were involved in this project, for your prayers and support.

As children from IHM School and Faith Formation enter their last few weeks before celebrating their 1st Eucharist, fun and fellowship (at a distance) was had by all at our 3rd Chalice Pottery Event. Can’t wait to see what beautiful chalices our 1st Eucharist children created. A heartfelt thanks goes out to Leigh from Leigh’s Fired Arts for guiding us through this fun and religious painting event.

FIRST EUCHARIST RETREAT - Fun and Spiritual! 2021
THANK YOU SISTER CHRISTIE What an awesome picture of Sister Christie, a Vincentian Sister, with her on-site Faith Formation 1st grade/Prep kids. Sister Christie has been a catechist for 7 years, and we all appreciate her gentleness and compassion teaching our little ones about the love Christ has for them. March 21st was her last day to teach this year, because after Easter, she will leave for her homeland of India for a much-needed vacation and time with her family. Please keep Sister Christie in your prayers for safe travels and a safe time. Faith Formation will miss you, Sister Christie, and will look forward to your return. |
DRIVE-THROUGH STATIONS OF THE NATIVITY 2020
Neither a pandemic, nor the piercing cold of High Point, could stop the Holy Land from coming to IHM this year, as a new drive-through experience. On the evening of Tuesday, December 15, IHM Faith Formation presented Stations of the Nativity on the sidewalks in front of the IHM Church and School. Over 2OO cars made the journey back in time, as they caravanned past the various festively lit live scenes, related to the birth of our Lord. An Advent project spearheaded by Tracy Sylvia, Terry Millard, and I, with the assistance of over 30 volunteers. The drive-through experience allowed “travelers” to view youth volunteers portraying characters such as the Angel Gabriel with Mary at the Annunciation, Mary and Joseph making their way to Bethlehem, the Shepherds, the Magi, and of course there was a live creche. (Special thanks to Dawn Clark, Deacon John’s wife, and their new baby, Trinity, for making the live creche extra special.) At the end of their journey, each carload of travelers was greeted with a sing-along Christmas carol compliments of Mary Connolly and finally a gift from St. Nick himself, portrayed by our own Deacon Wally.
The office of Faith Formation would like to thank all the adults and youth who showed up to assist in making this a wonderful event. We also want to recognize and thank several dedicated volunteers, who were instrumental in making this drive-through experience happen. God bless Tracy Sylvia for her creativity, time, and effort making this evening a memorable faith-filled occasion for ALL IHM families. Terry Millard, who gifted us with her artistic talents and time. We would also like to thank her for providing handwarmers for our volunteers. (I am not sure they would have survived for over 2 hours in the bitter cold without them.) Pat Harness and Pat Sanchez who wrapped over 200 gifts and were the ‘behind the scenes volunteers’ who graciously give Faith Formation generous amounts of their time and love throughout the year.
Faith Formation would also like to thank IHM School faculty and parents (past and present.) When we started this adventure, Tracy, Terry, and I went on a scavenger hunt throughout this entire campus and found many of the props and costumes from IHM School Christmas musicals from years gone by. Having less than 2 weeks to prepare, we could not have made this drive-through look so festive and beautiful without them.
We hope and pray this event brightened your day and uplifted your spirits celebrating the true meaning of Christmas, our Savior’s birth! May all IHM parishioners have a most joyful and safe Christmas and happy New Year.

Faith Formation Advent Celebration 2020

Thank you Linda Roney for 38 years of service to our Church, in Music Ministry, at the 7:30 AM Mass.
Linda and Bob Roney are truly the “heart” of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. We wish them many blessings as they move to Florida in September. As St. Francis De Sales wrote: “Those who go – stay and those who stay – go.” You will always be part of the IHM family as you begin your new journey.
